My dad lives a block away and I set up this WIFI bridge between our houses.

We use LAN Messenger to chat back and forth on it. Our internet can go down but we can still communicate back and forth through the bridge. That bridge, by the way, has a range of line of sight, and is very good bandwidth.

That's really cool. Mine lives two floors below me so I use the 'ole legs to get down there to communicate :)
