Why do you want to tan? I'm not ashamed of being a white person. I have never in my life stretched out in the sun just to get a tan and fail to see the point of it. I stay out of the sun as much as I can, except when I have to mow the grass. I do get darker, but I don't work at it or obsess over it. I never put on any kind of sunblock. If you burn too easily, that's a big hint to stay out of the sun as much as you can.
I guess you have to use your brain and decide for yourself. If tanning is worth getting skin cancer then go for it, survival of the fittest as far as I'm concerned.
I've never trusted sun screen but how do you avoid the awful sunburns when you want to tan? Should you put anything at all on your skin?

Why do you need to tan?
Call it porcelain.
