The good news is that Jesus Christ was sent by God to save those people who believe on Him from their sins and spend eternity with Him, which is unspeakably better than that universe trip.

I dont vilify atheists. I understand their questions and concerns, especially when they watch people make destructive decisions in the name of faith.
From my personal experience, even when I questioned my faith, it was the practicality of good ethics that kept me afloat from becoming a monster.
Did I get taken advantage of? Fuck yes, I did. It made me realize that if there is a swamp, and you are around garbage humans, the only way up is to become a sociopath like them.
I learned not to let any zealot push me away from the path of good. I had to find a group that will accept me on my good ethics and not what comic book characters I liked. Its a never ending refinement process.
