Went to Lowes today and like every other 9 out of 10 trips I leave pissed off without what I went for, today it was the cause of a "coin shortage" . I go to pay for my items and the clerk tells me there is a coin shortage therefore I can either round up my total or use a card, I immediately asked for a manager .... Manager comes over to explain to me there is a "coin shortage" again I may either round up my total if paying cash or use a card, I explained to her I am in business and deal with a few different banks and there is no coin shortage that I have seen, she goes on to tell me their coin supplier is Loomis and there is a shortage with them, I asked if so, why should their prob cost me $$$, she asked how ..if loomis is playing games with the system and Lowes is either in on the game playing with loomis which I am sure is backed by the fed or simply too lazy to find a different coin supplier or send a manager to a bank, then it is their problem. Why would you round my total up and not down ???? You are providing a lower level of service to me. She said that is how it is I am sorry what else may I do to help you today. I said you can put this stuff back on the shelf I am DONE shopping here. does anyone have any evidence of loomis being instructed to play games with coin circulation with box box retailers ?? This coin shortage is such bullshit

grooming to get us off cash. doubt Lowes is cleaning up on loose change, but the banks are squeezing us to go all digital.
I believe this is the case. The pennies with copper are already worth more in copper than their face value, and this will significantly expand in difference as time goes on especially if we switch back to a Gold standard
Easier to commit fraud too when we're full on card.
You know how many thousands of people never check their bank statements and are getting ripped off?
Also easier to "control" us when everything is linked to a "card". The evil Gov. can shut us off at any time for any reason. This is one reason our youth has been "trained" to use debit/credit" cards for everything. IMO
Pennies switched to zinc in the middle of 1982. It's just a copper coating now.
Nickel and dimes contain metal more valuable than the face value of the coins. If it weren't illegal to melt them down, you could make unlimited money buying nickels for 5¢ and melting them down for 6¢
We have 2 large glass jars. One we dump pennies in and the other gets the "white/silver" coins. I figure no one is dumb enough to steal it bc they are too heavy to run with and would weigh down pockets. LOL Maybe I'll use them to "trade" with the survivors of this coming universal meltdown.
You get busted doing it. Either your bank rats you out or the company that buys raw metal does. In any case, Loomis could be under increased scrutiny.
Regardless, it's pretty shitty that companies are just rounding up cash transactions and expecting customers to eat the cost.
And Wayyyyyy too many ppl think that’s great ...... I’m old enough to remember when debit cards came on the scene. I was always a cash man and though to myself look at these idiots with these cards not even carrying $5 in their pocket ... W T F !! .... that was 20+ years ago .. if we look back when did that become popular and common place ...... 98-99-2000 ish .... just in time for the patriot act to be rolled out and kick in in 2001 tighter clamping down on our cash limits and so on..... right now it’s so obvious is sick and ppl still can’t see what’s going on
Me too !!! Took me several years to get a debt card and I swear I didn't use it for the first year. And also. I still carry and use cash. I actually get a kick watching these millennials try and count change. Especially with finger nails that are like an inch long .
Remember when you went out you always needed to make sure you had dimes to make a phone call in an emergency? Then inflation....you needed 25 cents to make that phone call bc there were no cell phones back then.
Oh yes.... Then after like 5 minutes you had to add an nickel or something like that
Yep, I bet we are similar in age.
I hate to break it to you but debit cards were introduced like 40+ years ago so you are older than you think… kek…
I worked at a small bank in the 80’s doing some of the first debit trials in the city where I lived and I had my first debit card in 1982. I will never forget the first time I used it to take money from my account, I received the cash and it never left my account (basically I got money from this new fangled machine for free). Even after reporting that to my employer it was still never taken out of my account.
At the time I thought ATM machines were the best thing since sliced bread that gave out free money. Oh how times have changed.
When I grew up some friends didn't have a phone and I would ride my bike 2-3 miles just to see if they were home. I'm pretty old but I can still open up a can when I need too 🤣🤣😂 He's a little story my son says blows his mind. At 16 I forged my mom's signature and had a smoking permit in school. I'd be out side ripping butts with the teachers hahahaha ( smoking is bad. I quit many many moons ago )
