No, it comes from a word meaning "love".

Philadelphia = Brotherly love. Francophile = Lover of France and things French.

However, I think most people today when they use the word "pedophile" are thinking of more than just "love".

If you can find me a legit definition somewhere that includes abuse, I'll reconsider.

Either way, I do want to make it clear that I'm not trying to normalize these people. They need help. But I also realize that criminalizing thoughts is a VERY slippery slope.

If it is just thoughts, we’d never know. If they act upon thoughts, they are no longer just thoughts. Pretty simple I’m my opinion. Attraction to minors 0-12 = pedophile. Not normal.
