Take it for what it's worth, but if you know me I have been around since before Voat - same name. I am pretty low key I think but judge for yourself.
Anyhoo, my husband got a call from his brother, former Commander in the Navy. He is hearing that things are going to get a little crazy in around four weeks and that people should have four weeks of food and water just in case. Be able to sterilize water too. Something to do with panicking deep staters trying to block ports and food supply. This brother is really smart - many engineering patents to his name in his post military civilian career. Retired now but was literally considered intellectual property when his company was bought and sold, etc. The regular Joe brothers tend to think he's a right wing nut, and he is absolutely right wing but so am I so that doesn't really dissuade me. Not gonna lie sometimes I think he's a little out there. But he still has friends in high places and he knows people think he's nuts but feels it's important to share. Thought I should too and let people do what they want. His point is if you spend $600 to stock up and nothing happens, you still have $600 worth of food and water. If you don't and you end up really needing it....you don't.
I had a huge urge to stock up recently, don't want to add up the receipts to see how much I spent. I usually do a big stock-up before winter but something was telling me to stock up now rather than in fall. I spent more than the 16 cents the Resident saved me, ha.
Actually, last month we had some construction done on our property and the guys doing the work couldn't get supplies from their normal sources. I ended up going to hardware stores all over trying to get this and that and had trouble finding everything we needed. I did see a lot of empty spots and when I took the last of something, I noticed it didn't get restocked the next time I went in. I see that in my grocery stores and Costco, lots of missing items that never seem to get restocked.
So there are shortages even now, before anything else happens.
In our local Walmart, there are lots of holes in the vegetable aisle, but the cookie aisle is well-stocked. They're trying to kill us.
Weirdly, hair color seems to be not being restocked where we are.
Yeah but, cooooookies hmmmmmm.
I don't eat them any more. Modern wheat is bad for you, and isn't even the same species as what we had 100 years ago. I'm trying for a 100% keto diet. About 40 pounds gone so far.
Cookies last longer.
In whose house? :)
I hear ya. Me as well. It's harder to get the grown kids to prepare.... I've been squirreling away a little bit for them as well.
Omg I thought it was just my kids. They think I’m a “conspiracy theorist”. “Ok mom, I’ll pick up some extra bread...”. I have stuff set aside for them. Hopefully it won’t come to that but if it does, I will take great pleasure in saying I told ya so.
Lol. Mine are used to me by now lol. Hope we don't need it, but glad we can help them out ❤️ If SHTF.
I date fagged earlier, and I feel I put a taint on my credibility lol.
so I'm kinda keeping a profile lately. ;)
