Had a few collisions with someone just like this in the community college system. Ph.d in eng lit, decides it wasn't for her, decides to go through one of the early bootcamps over the summer -- now she was an IT expert..... Miss "expert" was having trouble with the lcd projector in one of the adjacent classrooms to the computer lab. I went over to perform my techly duties to help, I fixed the issue on HER computer, then she stops me on the way out and tells me in her "authoritative" voice, do not embarrass me again in front the students. I was told later by one of the students she was trying to use the issue as a teaching moment to which she couldn't fix the problem the way she was trying to describe. Apparently I embarrassed her by actually fixing it in 45 secs. She event went and complained to my supervisor about it. Timeframe win98, NT4.0ish HP/UX 11.x
Wow. That sounds just like what happenes to my wife. She fills in as a basic substitute teacher. Most teachers (union elite) do not know she's a Registered Nurse and has had many psychology / behavioral courses and 20 years real-world nursing experience.
They talk down to her like she's unqualified to assess a student's behavior or emotions. They put her in her place, then go on to use her exact observations and tactics after she is dismissed.
