Hmm, interesting. Iām gonna have to look more into this. š
I live in a small town with high taxes so it was easy for me to call our city manager to speak my mind. I also told him giving kids an assignment and to sit in front of a computer all day is not teaching. I'm not going to pay for a service I dont get.
Just an observation, and a suggestion...
You'll (eventually) lose with the argument "I'm not going to pay for a service I don't get". Why? Because a lot of us pay school taxes that don't have kids. (Therefore, I could make that argument every single year.)
We all pay school tax because it's important to have all kids educated. (That's why everyone pays, not just parents.)
I would suggest you modify the argument to "I'm not going to pay for a service that you did not to provide."
No it's not why we pay and we do not all pay. Land owners pay period. And none of us get our money's worth from these idiots and she is smarter than us all for not paying.
My point was that some bureaucrat smart-alec could argue back that 'all land-owners pay' even if they don't personally receive the service (ie, have kids).
Therefore, it might be better to make the more general statement that they 'did not provide the service', rather than they 'did not provide the service to me'.
(And yes, we all know that many school districts distort 'the service' into simple indoctrination.)
