Even though I've been surrounded by computers my whole life and I'm in I.T., I don't even go out in public and have my eyes glued to my phone. I just use it when I need to talk to my wife or whoever I talk to then put it away.
When I'm out and have to wait to pick something up, I don't sit or stand and have my phone out. I just look around and enjoy the scenery. People alongside me waiting to pick theirs up, would have their phone out and be glued to it.
I just think it's rude and whenever we get together with friends, we share the same rule -- do not be on the phone all the time when you are with your friends. Put it away unless you absolutely need it, i.e. talking to someone about an important matter or emergency.
I'm the same way. Phone goes away once I'm with people. I think it is so rude to be sitting next to someone with your phone out. It gives the impression you'd rather be doing something else. I'm thankful I grew up before cell phones became smartphones. My teenage years, people only used cell phones to round up the crew and go hang out. We actually talked to each other and looked each other in the eyes.
The most Important exchange in the first movie is Neo asking Morpheus why they don’t just wake everyone up. He explains that people will fight you to stay asleep
It is! No kidding! Maybe it’s my generation our how I was raised, but I cannot stand being glued to my phone. My phone has been having problems lately anyway. I think they’re messing with the internet.
This /\ my iPad decided it will no longer come to this site as of yesterday, using DDG so I'm on my old apple laptop I guess it's time to buy a sat phone.
It is when you see that, the one that I always remember is some young guy on a sail boat looking at his phone while a whale is swimming by the the boat a few times he never looks up to see the whale...

Exactly - plus, it's much more fun to people watch versus watching crap on the phone!
