u/MrJimLahey had the great idea to create a thread where people can share their experiences taking ivermectin. I thought it might be helpful to have a similar thread on NAC.
Most resources I've seen recommend 1200mg of NAC daily. I was able to buy it in 200mg capsules and since the pharmacy didn't have much quantity to sell, I've just been taking a single 200mg capsule daily.
Everyone says to take it on an empty stomach to I take it first thing out of bed, before coffee or breakfast or anything else. The first time I took it, the urge to empty my bowels came on strongly just within 20 minutes of swallowing the pill. Overall it felt like I was detoxing rather than like I had poisoned myself though.
Although I haven't had acne in decades, within a day of taking my first NAC capsule I got a bright red zit on my cheek and the whole area stayed swollen for a good week. Again, I assume it was my body getting rid of toxins. As I have continued taking 200 mg daily of NAC the acne has cleared up and not returned. I still feel as though my bowels empty more completely than they had before.
I'm not sure how much of an effect only 200mg a day really has with regard to covid, but I can always ramp up the dosage if feeling unwell.
Would be very interested to know how others have felt once starting NAC.
I started taking 600 mgs a day... today. I'll keep you updated with my own personal findings.
You arent going to find n-ac on shelves anymore in the USA. The FDA just said it wants to have it controlled. Which 100% tells me it works. I take it daily because it has many other benefits for alzheimers protection, liver cleansing. It is one of the only know free radicals that can cross into the brain and repair damage. Ginkgo Bilboa is also great coupled with this.
this from awhile ago, but do you know the role of selenium & molybdenum that many of the pricier NAC products have? it seems like they are supposed to help protect the liver and release enzymes to utilize the NAC more efficiently, but couldn't find much information other than claims on the product labels.
Thanks for posting. I haven't started taking mine yet, I have it in powdered form, not capsules. Interested to see if it helps with autoimmune diseases, too.
People just be sure you get N-Acetyl Cysteine, not Acetyl L-Carnitine which I accidently did because I was in a hurry and both are called NAC. I had to return it and order the correct NAC from Life Extension. Amazon has tons of the Carnitine-I couldn't find Cysteine. I am reading you are getting it from China. Here is the link I bought mine from... https://www.lifeextension.com/search#q=nac&t=coveo4A2453FD
Interested in how to buy in the US!

Thanks!
It's everywhere on Amazon
Unless something has changed
Not seein it my man...I see variations of those terms, but not "acetyl cysteine"...how do I know what is what?
Just bought some here: https://www.iherb.com/pr/now-foods-nac-600-mg-250-veg-capsules/694
Reasonably inexpensive, too.
Also can get it at swansonvitamins.com
My experience with NAC has been subtly positive. No digestive problems and I take it in a 200 mg capsule (from my health food store). Early morning, noon, mid-afternoon and bedtime.
Primary benefit has been to help with my asthma. When I can breathe more easily, everything else works better.
Sorry to see the FDA interfering - but, they're in the pocket of Big Pharma so, I'll just try something else. LOL! My health-food store is AWESOME (down-right REBELLIOUS) and I'll bet I'll soon see a working substitute on the shelf, instead of NAC. GBY & your loved ones, OP! Working/learning/sharing/praying together, we MAGA!
Combined with zinc and vitamin C it got rid of my last couple colds in two days. Just the regular dosage twice a day with meals (dunno how any of you can take this stuff on an empty stomach without it getting upset right afterwards.)
A lot of college kids take it when they are binge drinking it also treats Tylenol poisoning
It helps with my MS. It is not a cure, but I feel a little better. I have a little more energy. I can get up from kneeling all by my self.( I have not been able to do that for years.) I was able to lose 10 lbs. so I am at my pre MS weight now. I take 1000 mg once per day.
I read about NAC as few weeks ago. I have fatty liver (NAFLD) that typically goes away when i lose weight. Sadly, right now I'm not doing well on the weight loss / energy front.
Went ahead and ordered some but waiting for it to get here. Ordered when I noticed amazon pulled NAC products so I had to order from elsewhere. SUS AF that they pulled it.
Had to email my primary doc about something else last week and asked about NAC, and he said he would not recommend but could mention to my GI at my liver follow-up. Gave no reasons, just a short response.
I've been doing Vitamin C / D since covid started, and have recently added Zinc 1 or 2 days a week or daily if I start to get cold symptoms.
That said, how do you dose the NAC? Taken at night? during day? With food? Prob going to try it anyway. Doc also thinks I should get the vax so not much faith in them anyway at this point.
NAC should be taken on an empty stomach. You may find that it helps you lose weight. It seems to have this effect of moving digested food that was in the system previously on down the line such that you have... well, let's just say, more efficient bowel movements than before.
I know I have lost weight on NAC over the past couple months. Not huge amounts from probably 6 pounds? BAsically I notice that a larger percentage of whatever I eat gets excreted rather than stored in the body as fat.
Because I wasn't able to get huge amounts of NAC, I have not been taking the 600mg/day that docs have recommended for covid prevention. Instead I have just been taking a single 200mg pill a day, first thing out of bed.
and just need to drink enough water to avoid renal stones?
I got a couple kilo bags of powder, and take some every couple of days:
Half a scoop (around 1,000 mg) in a cup, pour in tonic water, and add 20 mg of liquid zinc.
The tonic water has quinine, which should act as an ionophore for the zinc. Have to make sure to pour the tonic water on top, do it the other way and the NAC clumps.
I am a year late on this trend but I still think its worth sharing - I have been taking NAC 600mg 3x a day (1800mg a day). I suffer from shortness of breath and low blood oxygen levels. My range of O2 saturation was a low of 85% and highs of 97%. After taking NAC 3x daily for about 4 weeks, my apple watch trends have been shocking. Noticing that I have been feeling way better is one thing, but seeing the lows of my O2 levels go from 85% lows, to 87%, 90%, 92%, etc is crazy. The slow increase over the days shocked me. I am now bottoming out at 97% O2 and topping at 100%!
I also currently have the virus and I feel fine. I have had it before and I felt like death. Now, with NAC, Zinc (50mg), Copper(2mg), Vitamin C (1,000IU), D3 (5,000IU), Fish Oil, and Rhodiola Extract (2x daily 250mg) - My symptoms are so mild. I also am taking Elderberry 4x daily (2TBSP).
I bought a 1kg bag of it from a pharmaceutical supplier in China. I just mix 500mg of it in a glass of water when I wake up and when I go to bed.
No problems so far. Haven't noticed any acne, but I'm many years beyond that point.
From China? You trust it?
90% of all pharmaceutical AID comes from China. Pretty much every drug you take. Yeah. I trust it.
Care to share or DM a link? How quickly can you get it? I want to make sure I get the right stuff.
