Re: all cells, not the heart or brain, I read. But I read other things like this. What's the best info on this?
I watched a video about fasting, the Dr said after a certain amount of time you body will make new brain cells. Lots of benefits to fasting ... 36 hours seemed to be where the most cleansing and regeneration happens.
Gosh I cannot remember his name, he is a cardiologist & wears a Star Wars cap.
I find it if you're interested.
Dr Berg on YouTube has some great quick videos on Fasting, the benefits, etc. He gets straight to the point and doesn't waterboard you with extraneous bullshit like others.
I didnt eat for 19 days consecutively due to an illness a few years back. Completely NPO, not even allowed to drink as I had an NGO vac tube.
It definitely reset my gut, along with other bodily functions.
In hindsight I'd say I feel healthier and am healthier since that predicament.
Wow, that's extreme fasting :)
Did you notice any foods that you couldn't tolerate anymore once you started eating again?
It was very slow going once I started to eat again. Literally one cup of mush every 12 hrs for about a week. Then graduating to 1 cup of soft, but not pure mush food 3 times a day for a week. After 3-4 weeks of that routine, I was finally able to get back to solid foods.
I will say this though, to give a bit more context. I had a routine surgery (ruptured ulcer repair, appx 8cm) and developed Pancreatitis as a result of the surgery (not uncommon). That's why I could not eat for almost three weeks.
I went from 185ish lbs avg weight (fit, never been overweight) dropping to 150 lbs avg. I can't put any weight on it seems like! My metabolism is fairly high and I have a very physically active job (and lifestyle I suppose) and can pretty much eat whatever I want with the exception of things like too much coffee, caffeine, high proof liquor, and really greasy food tend to cause my pancreatitis to wanna flair up.
Not too big of deal as I don't eat fast food garbage, I stick to beer if Im drinking (once a month usually doing yard work), and the only thing that I could complain about is limiting myself to one cup of coffee in the morning. The only odd thing out I can think of is Gatoraid makes me feel really "sour" if I drink it. Im guessing it's the loads of salt in it... But it could be something else of course.
