On second thought I bet that a him/her is gonna be the star and save the Matrix from the pesty Neo and such. These two confused "directors" are going to flip the script on everybody and yet another Hollywood box office loss will occur.
The second movie seemed to have fallen into the trap of using all secondary places and characters as 'set pieces' to move the story along rather than some 'natural' discovery process from the main characters that led them down the path.
The third one tried too hard to fit Neo into the 'jesus' metaphor they were building to end the story.
Just based on the preview for this 4th film looks like they are just going to rehash some of the tropes they used to push the narrative (I caught the scene of melting the mouth of someone, which was genius in episode 1 to show Neo just how out of control he was of his circumstances, rehashing it is like a teenage thinking 'that was cool, lets do it again')
Honestly, I think the second movie tried to set up a sequel that could never be good enough to justify the second movie.
I enjoyed all three, and I remember being very excited for the third one based on the second one. And realizing after that despite being a little disappointed, I have no idea how a third movie could have ever delivered a satisfying end to that trilogy. They wrote themselves into a promise they could never realistically fulfill.
I am curious to see how a fourth one goes. A reboot probably would have been more justified if they were just looking to print money, but Keanu Reeves is a popular name right now, and I canβt blame them for trying to take advantage of it.
I think you got the chicken and egg backwards. The term "redpilling" comes from these movies. They were here first, and Trump supporters borrowed the terminology from them.
I just saw the 1st official trailer. Surprisingly, they seem to have kept the red pill to mean truth of reality and the blue pill is the one that keeps them sedate. As was stated though, the creators have made statements in the past that put them on the side of the current establishment, so I don't think it has anything for us. Hell, it might even be an entertaining movie, stranger things have happened, but it'll come down to how much virtue framing they do for the sake of maintaining the establishment.
Be prepared to be insulted... The directors are lefty men in dresses.

The first Matrix movie was genius.
The 2nd Matrix movie was bad, but had a few decent parts. The 3rd movie was so stupid it was unwatchable.
i have zero hopes for a 4th Matrix movie.
They have spiraled down to crap.
Agreed, the first movie was genius.

To me there is only one Matrix movie. The other two sucked so bad neither should carry the Matrix name.
The movie will probably be pure shit.
