There are lots and lots of traps. If they take Medicare, lots of traps. Insurance companies are regulated. Hospitals require board certification, aka gatekeepers.
We have to realize that despite paying for Medicare over the years and insurance premiums, we will prob have to pay out of pocket to providers forced out of board certification and insurance coverage.
I would guess that co-ops could form, bypassing the state control of docs and insurances . . .
Heck the doc used to come to the old home place in a horse and buggy, and would go home with some great chickens in payment. It is the corporatized health care that is so expensive anyway. Most of us could afford real health care out of pocket . . . that is what money is for. No need to enrich the big pill pushers.
I agree. All of the regulation, gatekeeping, boards, insurances, and other antics are what make "healthcare" so expensive. Throw it all out. If we could freely walk into a clinic run by it's doctor who is transparent about services, products, and costs, and who has no government incentives or support whatsoever, that will do more to allow people to afford healthcare than any degree of socialism ever can.
As for gatekeeping? If you do your due diligence and raise multiple children, you may well be more qualified to treat or diagnose children than most pediatricians. If you spend a decade or two on athletic endeavors and actually read and study up on it, you could compete with some sports physiologists minus some of the official terminology.
YEAH but if we pay docs what they are worth they don't need to be prostitutes to medicare. It is all a trap. A doc can decide to not take Medicare. Can decide to not be a slave. If there are enough of us who decide to not be slaves to the Medicare / insurance scam and pay for our own health. That is what money is for. Health, family, well being. What else is money for?
Exactly this^^^^. The other gatekeepers of the current system is the licensing is all through government agencies and organizations like the AMA only push the official government narrative. If a doctor is looking for an alternative to what the FDA says, they won't get it at the AMA - all they'll get there is reinforcement of the gov narrative.

What think yee??
Without all the red tape and bureaucracy a doctor can come to your house for $50 an hour and make a great living.
Some of us are happy to pay that too, those of us who dumped our insurance long ago.
My insurance plan is $1000 a month. Employer covers about 800 but that is used to give me a lower salary.
Conservatives love to shit on other systems and act like our Healthcare is free market when it is FAR from that.
I don't know any conservatives who acts like healthcare is a free market.

The jargon makes them appear like experts.
Medicare and insurance is the shackles for doctors. They are now threatening doctors rx ivm by withholding Medicare payments.
