Someone reported this as a fake bible quote
https://biblehub.com/revelation/18-23.htm
If you scroll down you can see φαρμακείᾳ (pharmakeia) so I'll leave this be.
Yeah I'm not going to remove a post on something I'm not going to dig that deeply into. Just fight it out in the comments if you have too.
This is essentially correct. I figured it was a translation thing.
And English is one of the most flexible languages in the world because it roots in so many other languages, correct!
BUT WE'RE A QULT THO BRUH
It is not fake. People that are reporting it as fake are doing so with good will. The English translation of the greek word is the problem. We have to remember that the bible In the Original Language is the written word of God. This verse can be used as an example. Let's say the dark side did not want Christians to connect this verse to any drugs. They could have influenced the translators to use a different english word which while still a good translation is not complete.
I am not saying this happened in this case but you can see that if evil wanted to change the Word of God (in our minds) evil could just change the english language a little.
Here is another example that I believe was done on purpose. There are 5 greek words in the new testament that are translated into one English word. It is a MAJOR deal. The english word is LOVE.
So because of those other words being combined into the one word love we get lost in understanding what the Love of God really means.
4 of the words translated into love concern how we Fell towards something or someone else.
1 Word translated Love is more aligned with commitment, determination. Feelings are not involved. ( feeling could be there of course but they can also come and go) That greek word is Agape.
That word is of course The word concerning the Love of God and the Love we are to seek
Whatever floats your boat...
Was just reading about this today from another pede's post:
"The word translated as “sorcery” in the Greek is the word φαρμακεία (pharmakeía). No additional explanation is needed."
More details here:
https://www.cepher.net/blog.aspx?post=7742&title=On-the-Mark-of-the-Beast
This may refer to a combination of drugs and magic spells: drug-induced spells.
Here is a link for the word by word literal translation Revelation Chapter 18 https://www.logosapostolic.org/interlinear-nt/revelation/18.htm
“And the light of a lamp that is revealed to me in the light of the lamp that, and the voices of a bridegroom and a nymph who heard me in the midst of the following: that your merchants were the greats of the earth, that in your pharmacies the nation has always been erred,”
Direct translation from the Greek Bible.
Oh that pesky John.
Pharmakeia φαρμακεια is the Greek word for pharmacy, which is the practice and making of medication and vitamins. It also refers to the making of spell-giving potions, or alchemical potions (or elixirs) believed to have transforming powers, such as the power to extend life, boost energy, or enhance the mind. It also refers to any substance used to poison someone, to prevent or treat disease (or, for that matter, to cause it), or to gain control of someone's behavior.
Pharmakeia and its related word forms pharmakeus, pharmakon, pharmakos and pharmakoi are the words from which we get the modern English words pharmacy, pharmaceutics, pharmaceutical, pharmacist, pharmacopia, pharmacology, pharmaceuticalist and pharmaceuticalism.
The modern transliteration of pharmakeia is pharmacia. Pharmakeia and its related forms appear several times in the New Testament, including the Epistle to the Galatians and the Book of Revelation. It is frequently translated as "witchcraft" or "sorcery".
Magical pharmacia substances or potions often bind someone under a spell by evocation with and without uttered word formulas. Cosmetics, lotions and perfumes were also made by practitioners of pharmaceuticalism and by extension any lab made substance or chemical falls in the realm of pharmakeia or pharmacia. In modern times petrochemicals are used to create chemical reactions with plants to create pharmaceutical substances.
One well known example is the street drug cocaine, where coca leaves are soaked in gasoline and sulfuric acid to produce the substance cocaine. Other pharmaceuticals are made solely from petrochemicals. Today people who practice organic farming and gardening are those who reject the form of pharmakeia using chemicals which is turning to witchcraft for the success of their crops.
Okay... it may be me but I'm not finding this in Revelation 18:23?
The KJV translation
23 And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee: for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived.
The "merchants" in verse 12-13 are described as those who traffic in gold, silver.......and the souls of men.
sorcery - the art, practices, or spells of a person who is supposed to exercise supernatural powers through the aid of evil spirits;
Selling the souls of men is evil, is it not?
We all know that the vaccine does not prevent fluvid 19 so what does it do (this question should scare the scat out of everyone?) Alter your DNA? Sever your connection to the Spirit?
Either way, I think this definition also works.
(KJV) Rev 18:23 And the light of a candle shall shine no more at all in thee; and the voice of the bridegroom and of the bride shall be heard no more at all in thee: for thy merchants were the great men of the earth; for by thy sorceries were all nations deceived.
Not all sorcery is hand motions and words. It includes potions, brews, and concoctions, aka alchemy and pharmacological practices.
Modern sorcery, or magic, is seen as all smoke and mirrors, and involves deception of the senses through trickery, lies, and illusion.
Either way it matches up perfectly with today's issues at hand.
I see no problems with this post's conclusions.
What is this shit?
Didn't even get the name of the book correct.
True story, one big revelation, not a bunch of them.
