I have read some about him too. I think both his parents were English teachers, which (in my mind) explained his excellent command of language. That's what I find so appealing about his music.
I have also read that he went through a period of darkness with drugs and whatnot. Later on he returned to his home state, The Great State of Texas, and got married and had a family, and lives a normal life.
Knowing what we know now, it's probably all BS. Every bit of it. hahahaha
True! Henley laid it out CLEARLY three decades ago about the censorship of freedom of speech (fighting Tipper Gore's berserk record-jacket-labeling frenzy) and about the news media being jerks selling cancel culture. Yet these idiots lap up their programming like good little robots.
The guitar solo on that song though...angular and aggressive...really good, not sure if it's the part done by Joe Walsh (sounds like him) or Steve Lukather.
Don Henley sang it best when he referred to:
The bubble-headed bleach blonde who comes on at 5… can tell you about the plane crash with a gleam in their eye.
I love that guy. He's so darn smart.
Ah, well that would stick in my mind as well !
