You are most welcome fren. I keep posting this information because sooner or later I know it might help someone. I have said for some time that trying to fight mandates with exemptions was a defense they had already baked into the cake and we are mostly doing exactly what they expected us to do. We are so predictable. Taking on a complete frontal defensive posture and strategy will only allow them to continue to advance. By deflecting their offense, we redirect their energy and hopefully use it against them. At any rate, a conditional acceptance is not a refusal and actually gives an employer a possible out if they are smart enough to take advantage of it. If enough employees take this stance, it could possibly change the trajectory of these mandates and put employers in the position of petitioning the government to drop the mandates if it means they are going to take it in the shorts legally.
It is at least worth a try because we do not seem to be winning using legal exemptions - they are simply ignoring them. By challenging them to find the information, they hopefully will be awakened to the fact that they have been duped and will be left holding the bag when they are faced with multiple lawsuits and their businesses destroyed. This is probably not going to change the huge corporate structures, but they are not the target with these mandates. Medium sized business are and this whole Covid strategy has been designed in part to destroy them. If we can get them to see this, we will have won some allies instead of once again playing into the us versus them tribal narratives.
My other friend tried the exemption at the hospital he works at. They wouldn't accept it, said it was "Dissolution of employment" if he didn't get it. He's too dependent on booze and his credit card to risk the loss of income, so sadly he capitulated.
Many employers are not honoring a legal exemption - whether for religious reasons or medical. Technically, that is against the law. With exemptions, there is a line drawn in the sand with an employer and both sides are waiting for the other to blink. This is not a refusal. It just depends on whether a company wants to run the risk of law suits. That also depends on whether an employee is actually willing to hold an employer accountable. Like your friend, there are far too many that will just capitulate. In many ways, our fat, spoiled, and lazy American culture has knocked the fighting spirit out of way too many of us. Your friend sounds like he would have no problem owning nothing and being happy. Too bad for him. His life must not be more valuable to him than his lifestyle.
Have a great week fren.
