We treat America like a business and the candidates are hirees. But because they are going to be public employees and they want to "work for the people" I think there are some things we need to go a lot further than we normally do.
(Section A) 1st, they submit a blind resume. The resume is as follows:
- Voting (political) History (public -in-office voting if they have any political history)
- Employment History
- Income History (where do they get their money and how much)
- Contributions (to/from)
(Section B)If they pass this first section they get to interview with the American people via TV/Internet/in-person
- Subjective Qualities
- Subjective Ideologies
- 8 hour Q&A from the general public with breaks.
-----------Section A and B will be repeated each time they pass the go up from local to state to national.------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
(SECTION C) If they pass this
- Full Public Financial Audit.
- Full Public Extensive Background Check.
- Other forms of scrutiny.
If they pass this they are then added to a list of final candidates to vote for.
- People will then vote based on Objective, and subjective qualities
- There are no party lines.
Who/what adjudicates a "satisfactory" response to each section?
The People.
First Local. The local people will take a vote on if this person is satisfactory. (if the person is applying for a local position, the next two are not needed)
Second is the state. There is a state vote by the people on if they are satisfactory. (if the person is applying for a state position, the next section is not needed)
Thrid is national, the people vote on a national level if they should be considered. for a national position.
yes I know this means a lot of voting but that's the only way to ensure we choose. if you don't wanna be a part of the voting then don't. but it's your right to be a part.
Who is the resume etc submitted to?
I just imagine this process getting corrupted if centralized.
It's submitted to some public government office, all applications can be viewed online.
I would also make it so you have to pass a mandatory class on the constitution. And not just pass it, pass it with 100% accuracy, no multiple choice.
I propose the guillotine method for our present batch. Then start over.
Hard no on voting history. people can grow and change their minds.
Rest isn’t bad.
Wouldn't that be shown in their voting history? If we had that we could see they started voting one way and began voting another. This data would show us that. Else we would have to trust them when they say they are for or against something. And I think history has shown us, we can't fully trust anyone in power.
You’re right we can’t trust anyone in power but their personal voting history should remain private.
Also, how do you verify their voting history?
Sorry, I mean public legislative voting, like what bills they voted for in government if they have a past.
