They have been pushing people towards childlike psychology and emotions through entertainment displaying it and creating confirmation bias towards it being 'the norm', it really started picking up speed with the widespread adoption of cable-TV.
Think about emotions, displays of emotions and what was seen as acceptable and not looked down upon in the late 70's/early 80's when cable really took of, and compare that to what is seen as and deemed acceptable today, even the most left leaning and NPC of people back then would look down upon what today is deemed a 'normal' psychology and display of emotions......
So the root target of their distraction efforts are emotions and lessening peoples interest in having their emotions rather than being had by their emotions, emotional people are a LOT easier to manipulate and lead than the people that still retain some measure of emotional self control.........................
And the Wachowski Brothers are going by the Wachowski Sisters. I’ll probably check the movie out because I love the trilogy (the first being the best, by far), but I don’t have a lot of hope in clown world.

Something that is the equivalent of "hey, that sunset on the beach sure it beautiful, isn't it?" Hell, make it a comment that they could readily agree with.
