I’m sorry in advance for this post but I really had no choice and no one else to talk to about this.
2 weeks ago I bought two tickets to an evening Halloween event at a theme park over $140. A week later the commiefornia county enforces the mask mandate and the theme park is now forced to check the vaccine card of every visitors. Obviously I don’t and will never take the vax. But this park has an absolute no refund policy no matter what. I’ve not been going out since last year at all and I thought I would have some fun with my family and then these commie forces the mandate again. So should I go to the theme park tonight or should I stay at home? It was such a mistake purchasing these 2 tickets.
UPDATE: thanks everyone for your advices. But I ended up staying at home instead. I think it’s safer in general and the idea of going to the Hollywood devil den is just not a smart idea ☠️
Unless the event has a disclaimer claiming that the terms and conditions may change at anytime for any reason, then they have breached the contract and I would take them to small claims court to recover your losses.

Vax mandate
This is a lost cause on my part, isn’t it? Should I even try to go there tonight? I don’t know if I can play dumb. The tickets are expensive.
“ Verification will take place when required based on theme park attendance.“
This statement suggests that they may not ask for verification if the park isn’t that crowded. You may want to go and play dumb.
Thanks. 👏🏻 This theme park might be my last evening outing with my family at a public place if the mask mandate is enforced state wide this November.
Go to Knotts instead. You can get an annual pass for $105 or $109, they recently raised their prices. You can go 365 days. They do have add on options, including beverage and meals. If you are going to go more than once, it is cheaper to get a pass. Just saying it is an option.
I stay home :(
Have you been to Knott Halloween event recently? How was it?
Unfortunately, I have not. I have heard it is good.
Just bring a neg covid test. Buy one a t Walgreens. Holler and make a scene. I live in LA too. They said, or a negative test
Yes they will. You can sue in small claims court in CA and recover up to $5000. No lawyers allowed. That’s if there is a breach of contract.
If it's about refunds; then go there and sell the tickets to anyone wanting in; which usually go for a profit; yet if clown world demand isn't up to par you can always sell tickets for close to asking price at any event. Bring a bunch of carved out pumpkins and you can make a killing on the side or fake blood vials if you're lazy.
Lol
If purchased with a credit card , should be evidence enough for refund. Since requirements were undisclosed at time of purchase.
If you can't sell the tickets, kiss the expense goodbye and find something else fun for your family to do.
Unenforceable, they changed the terms of the contract after the agreement was made and paid for. They at minimum have to refund, but better yet they should carry out the terms of the contract (which they broke) and let you in without vax.
I would just walk away. Who cares? Pff. Money is easy to make. Your health is not as easy to recoup if you get injured, or die, by a vaccine JUST to go to a theme park.
...True 😔
I’d go, play dumb and lie if they require it. “Of course I did the right thing, do you think I’m crazy or something? I have no way to prove anything. My records are like gold to me, locked up at home 50 miles away.”
Maybe this anecdote will help you.
When I was selling memberships at a healthclub/gym (a racket-club, spelling intended), many prospective membership purchasers would be hesitant to pay the upfront cost of joining (which was peanuts compared to the monthly fees added up over time, but hoo-mons are irrational about long term costs).
So in order to get them over the initial cost hesitancy, we would pose one question to get them to see things in perspective. It worked remarkably well. The question was:
Nearly everyone would think about it for a moment and realize that the $150+ cost was chickenfeed when compared to living a potentially longer, healthier, more active and fullfilling life. Out came the checkbook and another sale was made.
So my question to you is this:
$140?
$200?
$10,000?
Priceless?
A lot of people have sold it for much less than $140. The choice is yours to make.
May God bless you.
Hopefully the message reaches beyond the OP.
👍
Why don't you bail out of California? Who could put up with all the Commie BS they throw at you in California? I was born and raised in Southern California and moved in 81 and never looked back! I grew up in Ontario and it went from a population of 48,000 to about 200,00 by the late 90s. It looked like a desert instead of the nice Grape Vineyards and Orange Groves when I was growing up. All the draft dodgers came back and got into the Government and started their slow and steady build-up to Communism. BTW- ask the window at Universal if their Govenors daughter ever received the COVID Vaccine!
Looks to me like you cant go tonight unless you take both death shots this afternoon, hey, go ahead and throw in the third so you can really enjoy the show. I know these decisions are complicated but remember... You cant be un vaccinated, You gotta stay non vaccinated.
Which theme park? I thought CA wasn't starting all that vax proof until Nov. 4
Universal studio!
Vax mandate
They sent me the updated email just a few days after I purchased the tickets!
If the event is usually well attended, you may be able to go and sell the tickets for $100. You'll lose $40, but not all of it. I think regardless of the vax check, they will definitely check for the masks.
Wait ..I’m in San Diego ..they are forcing the vax mandate Nov 4 , I didn’t realize this ..my only news is here ...
I would take a picket sign, go there and ask for a refund, and if they don’t give you one I would picket the event for hours!
They should’ve told you that before you purchase the tickets. Also while you’re there, you might be able to sell them for less money to somebody else to at least recoup some of your funds.
I would to sell your tickets before you start picketing though. Somebody might not want to buy them from you then. I’m sure you could easily get 100 bucks for them.
