For a very long time, I've noticed the undertones of "be prepared" (for some, obviously not all) are more like "I hope collapse happens"? I find myself wanting that somewhat...a societal reset...but why? Do we think that is the only way? Am I off-base here?
What do you think?
No one wants collapse.
However it is necessary. It's necessary because millions of Americans aren't following any of this. They go home, turn on Netflix, flip through instafacetwittergram for hours, watch football games, play video games and generally pretend the outside world isn't happening.
Literally the only way to wake some people up, like 60% of my coworkers, would be for a foundational collapse of the country that forced them to pull their head out of the sand and look around.
It's the ONLY way.
Get prepared for a collapse today. Right now today, go out and get a few bags of rice, a few bags of beans, some canned goods like Dinty Moore beef stew, tuna and chicken and some basic spices like Salt and Pepper to last you at least 6 months. Also have a water plan if the local water goes out. Either filtration or storage or preferably both.
Food and water are just the tip of the iceberg of being prepared, but you probably don't have time for the other hundreds of things you could do.
Yes, exactly this. I don't want collapse, but I accept it as an inevitability. Stock up now on food and water, though likely mostly just food.
For water storage, you can get great water storage containers for under $20 each (7 gallons each container).
For food, I bought from a local church, a local food storage supplier, and even some storage products from Wal-Mart. Ensure you have proteins.
Your friends and neighbors will be like the grasshopper to your ant. Be prepared to help those closest to you, and be prepared to turn away those who did not prepare.
My church has talked about having a 72-hour kit for my entire life, and about having months of food storage. Get those things. Be prepared for whatever may occur. My best guess would be supply chain disruption and domestic terror.
