Same here. My flag has been this way for months now. The 94 yr old widow of two servicemen across the street is concerned over it and brings it up every time I bring her dinner. I had to explain the distress signal. She asked the mailman too and he told her the same. I told her if it steers one person to look into why it’s upside down it’s serving it’s purpose. She told me she has had several people ask her about my flag. Working. BTW my neighborhood is in LA County. Lots of flags in my hood but mine is the only one I’ve seen in distress.
Interesting, I have never heard that distress protocol before. I have been flying my flag consistently since before the election and overtime more than 50% of my neighborhood now has flags flying out in the front 24 hrs a day. Unfortunately the last storm that blew through a couple days ago ripped the flag pole holder and screws out of the tree but as soon as I get it repaired I plan to turn my flag upside down and see if anyone else follow suit.
Good for you ! I’m In San Diego ! Accept mine, we don’t have American Flags in my neighborhood! I fly one in the back of my house and one in the front ..a flag in my front window and a big Pledge of Allegiance plaque next to it ! You wouldn’t believe the comments from the “nice “ but very liberal neighbors when I hung one in the back ! I guess I was flying to many and one guy ( liberal ) was concerned that I wouldn’t have a light on it, as if he really cared! I put them all in their place, I’m now thinking of flying upside down as well , honestly I don’t know the true meaning and don’t trust google to honestly represent, would you tell me !
