Robot "dogs" like this will never be practical for civilian law enforcement. There are only a few GOOD uses for this technology... and most of us would never be in a situation like that to see one being used.
Essentially... a robot "dog" that fires sniper payloads would be great in a Bruce Willis movie, or maybe have a role in a Quinton Tarantino film where dead body count generally competes with the F-word for how many times and ways it occurs in the film.
In every day situations, robot dog usage = city being sued for $Millions because some citizen worth $2,000 on his best day got shot. (note: He was planning to go to college and become a doctor, despite dropping out of school after 7th grade and being addicted to meth).
The hardest part of being a sniper is the approach. This thing could creep for weeks.
I agree 100%. It's battery life is its limitation out in the field. Corrosive elements in the environment, including temperature, along with its lack of robustness makes this 'cool' robot a pile of expensive and burdensome weight when it fails. One loose wire or seal and it becomes a boulder to lug around.
