It’s easier said than done, but it’s 100% true
I think of this passage often. It calms me when I'm feeling anxious.
Recently I have learned a formula that escaped my attention for most of my life because the pastors and Sunday school teachers did not know it well enough to pass it on. As a result, I always thought the Christ was a good and decent man who motivated many by his charisma. His miracles were never adequately explained. This is the formula: The Heavenly Fathers First Born Son>Jehovah>Jesus the Christ: the Alpha and Omega. He inspired the prophets of the Old Testament and fulfilled the prophecies at Gethsemane and on the Cross. Of course He stilled the waters.. I am filling in the blanks rapidly since this epiphany.
I love this passage. It's powerful because it shows you the power of faith.
I love the corresponding story too..in Matthew 14
25 Shortly before dawn Jesus went out to them, walking on the lake. 26 When the disciples saw him walking on the lake, they were terrified. “It’s a ghost,”(D) they said, and cried out in fear.
27 But Jesus immediately said to them: “Take courage!(E) It is I. Don’t be afraid.”(F)
28 “Lord, if it’s you,” Peter replied, “tell me to come to you on the water.”
29 “Come,” he said.
Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus. 30 But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!”
31 Immediately Jesus reached out his hand and caught him. “You of little faith,”(G) he said, “why did you doubt?”
True faith can allow a mere mortal to walk on water.
Now does it make sense why governments have used fear to control for centuries?
Because without fear, there is true faith. Healing, reviving, walk on water, shoot lasers out of your eyes if so be it, do the impossible kind of faith.
Wonderful verse - if I may, here is the King James Version:
Jesus, that's who. :)
They had the kingdom near them, things were different. We are not to fear today because we died with Christ, the body is already dead and we’re only alive through Him.
Don’t confuse Christ earthly ministry with what’s happening today. The kingdom is not on earth.
