You will know the right place for yourselves when you see it. Hubs and i moved to glorious Coeur d Alene 9 years ago and have been thankful for our good luck in finding it as we did. Lots of pretty places in Montana but weather is brutal. I would strongly advise against Missoula. Totally leftist.
We are looking in Athol and up around Priest Lake. My family used to have a lake cabin out on Coer d Alene lake. So I'm very familiar with the area. Is your experience total freedom?? I'm so sick of seeing 95% masks and liberal bullshit everywhere I go.
The western side of MT is very liberal. Houses and land are very expensive. The rest of MT is Trump country. It is extreme in weather but that adds to the fun. Billings is full of crime but it is a bigger city if your into that. Eastern MT is the land of real Freedom. Absolute Freedom. And FJB
Montana has a lot more rich elites with property. Idaho is more of an afterthought IMO. I think freedom in Idaho rings a smidge louder based on regulations and minimum wage and the like.
Montana is the only state who’s LEGISLATORS passed a bill that prohibited vaxxx or vaxxx passport mandates Biden ordered. It is cool to have a conservative governor, but it is better to have a State Legislature that passes law that protects civil rights.
In Oregon here....two families I know are considering moving to MT....one almost definitely because it is only a short matter of time until little kids will be jabbed at school...She tells me that MT is the one and only state to have it written in the law that the poke can't be mandated or requested or inquired about. Her husband is from the conservative part so that is where they would go.
Two former employees, brothers moved with their families to Northern Idaho last year and love it....the whole town lined the streets with guns when Antifa came to town.
We are too - Inslee is days away (Nov 2) from decision on vac mandates for all school kids - heading out to MT this weekend to explore - Idaho has a shortage of homes and rentals.
Yes we are very aware. We are homeschooling after we ditched a private school that cowered to the states mask mandates. but we can see the walls closing in. I just want to be Free. I hate leaving the house over here.
We do too. Love our home and have spent years finishing it the way we wanted, but the townspeople have become so hostile to the unvaxed I cannot ever imagine being friendly with them again. Getting our grandkids to a place they can socialize and play sports and attend dance and gymnastics again with like minded families is priority 1.
Sounds like we are in the same boat. It is hostile and who wants to live in this environment. I'm proud to be a pureblood and I want to be surrounded by those that are as well. Or at least supportive of the right to choose !!!!
Here's a thread where people compare the two:

And here's a comparison of different categories between the two:

Love Texas but I have always loved mt and idaho as well. Plus still close to family.
I have no idea but good for you! :) Either way I'm sure you'll do better than staying in WA!

I'm self employed and my wife can work her job remote as she has done for the last decade. So we are in a great situation ....

Thanks for this question! Husband and I are evaluating some of these trades as well.
