Perhaps too many aren't getting enough attention and/or respect at home and elsewhere, so they mistakenly believe that joining "the club" will get them the attention and respect they crave and will elevate them socially(?)
Being LGBT+ is just the new version of being goth or being a skater when I was in high school. It's the edgy, cool thing to do, so kids are attracted to it.
Unfortunately, LGBT stuff is far more life destroying than wearing black lipstick to school.
I've got two daughters in middle school and they estimate that "at least half" of the girls are not straight.

Exactly! I can’t believe how many times I’ve had this conversation with my daughter recently. Thankfully, she finds the thought of lbgtq disgusting.
