In fact, if it were "coded" in the way you seem to be implying it was, listen to this...
"I warn everyone who hears the words of the prophecy of this scroll: If anyone adds anything to them, God will add to that person the plagues described in this scroll. And if anyone takes words away from this scroll of prophecy, God will take away from that person any share in the tree of life and in the Holy City, which are described in this scroll. He who testifies to these things says, “Yes, I am coming soon.” Amen. Come, Lord Jesus. The grace of the Lord Jesus be with God’s people. Amen."
Revelation 22:18-21 NIV
With such a warning/threat to those who alter this book of Scripture, for ANY reason, do you actually believe He would allow corruption of His Word in a way in which the majority of His disciples throughout all of human history have been living their lives by a corrupted Scripture?!? I don't.
Its a historical theory as to why Rev is like that. Rome banned christianity and the Christians had to find a way around. My googling isnt working for me atm. But that one seems to tie in with Romes persecution
