LOL. 'Media' trying to stop what is coming. We are legion.
I can appreciate your convictions, but it has more than one meaning: legion noun The major unit of the Roman army consisting of 3,000 to 6,000 infantry troops and 100 to 200 cavalry troops. A large military unit trained for combat; an army. A large number; a multitude. synonym: multitude.
Yeah, when I hear Legion, I think of the French Foreign Legion. Which is made up of many different people from all over the world.
Not so much now but they are great traffic cops
Legion was many Demons that took possession of a single man, when Jesus cast Legion out of the man they went into a herd of pigs and ran into the river.
a modern "legion" would by my interpretation be something like a reddit hivemind, their ideals only work in their hive but on their own they become destroyed. You're not wrong, I do not identify as a demon nor do I let them be friends or family of mine.
Mark 5:9
6 When he saw Jesus from a distance, he ran and fell on his knees in front of him. 7 He shouted at the top of his voice, “What do you want with me, Jesus, Son of the Most High God? In God’s name don’t torture me!” 8 For Jesus had said to him, “Come out of this man, you impure spirit!”
9 Then Jesus asked him, “What is your name?”
“My name is Legion,” he replied, “for we are many.” 10 And he begged Jesus again and again not to send them out of the area.
11 A large herd of pigs was feeding on the nearby hillside. 12 The demons begged Jesus, “Send us among the pigs; allow us to go into them.” 13 He gave them permission, and the impure spirits came out and went into the pigs. The herd, about two thousand in number, rushed down the steep bank into the lake and were drowned.
14 Those tending the pigs ran off and reported this in the town and countryside, and the people went out to see what had happened. 15 When they came to Jesus, they saw the man who had been possessed by the legion of demons, sitting there, dressed and in his right mind; and they were afraid. 16 Those who had seen it told the people what had happened to the demon-possessed man—and told about the pigs as well. 17 Then the people began to plead with Jesus to leave their region.
18 As Jesus was getting into the boat, the man who had been demon-possessed begged to go with him. 19 Jesus did not let him, but said, “Go home to your own people and tell them how much the Lord has done for you, and how he has had mercy on you.” 20 So the man went away and began to tell in the Decapolis[b] how much Jesus had done for him. And all the people were amazed.
Luke 8:30
LOL. You think you know something, because you read something in the bible. I also read the bible. Have done so since I was six years old. I learnt English from reading the bible.
I get it.
I also get why people would be opposed to referring themselves as Legion due to its Biblical connotations.
Thou doth not speaketh liketh thy bible.
A legion: Definition of legion
(Entry 1 of 2) 1 : the principal unit of the Roman army comprising 3000 to 6000 foot soldiers with cavalry Caesar and his legions defeated the Gauls. 2 : a large military force especially : army sense 1a the French Foreign Legion 3 : a very large number : multitude won him … a legion of devoted followers— Irving Kolodin 4 : a national association of ex-servicemen the American Legion https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/legion
In Mark: Jesus addresses the men as if they are possessed by a single spirit, but the demon's answer, giving his name as "Legion," shows that he led a company of demons. Mark records that the swine that the demons entered after their exorcism numbered about two thousand. The demon was referring to the number of demons that possessed the men. This does not mean that the word Legion is demonic. It is simply a large number.
Maybe next time "We are an army"
Army is the correct collective term for a group of frogs ;)
Excellent.
