I’ll never understand how people went from the Roman baths & toilet system to the medieval times using a bed pan.
(I did read in another article the Roman bathrooms didn’t keep the filth and disease away.
As advanced as China is they still lack proper bathrooms. My mom went in 1988. The expensive hotels for tourists have holes in the floor & you squat. Maybe it’s updated since then.

most diseases went away with clean water which in developing contries is usually when vaxs are rolled out. polio typhoid cholera etc etc

I was thinking that also. I can’t imagine living in the era’s they through human waste out the window. (Big cities & multiple stories)
