You could've had H1N1, Bird Flu, Swine flu, Flu A, or a host of other influenza's (or even SARS1) that are NASTY and "feel" different. Plus, it's been long known that the flu can cause loss of taste and smell. See this article from 1988:
Does it really matter if we had covid or interdimensional space flu? Its all part of the same fear campaign nowadays. Our covid vaxxed employees did get sick but we know that doesnt mean it wasnt covid either. Bottom line is all sicknesses are called covid now. I hear ya. I believe it does matter, however, how we talk/speak about this lying phenomenon occurring in our time. I could be wrong here, but it's probably better to be more detailed/nuanced with our language in this battle, so as to not eternally perpetuate (accidently?) the "fear campaign."
Funny thing, my husband and I think we got COVID towards the end of October.
We have BARELY BEEN SICK so we weren't 100% sure. My initial symptoms were a feeling of heaviness on the left side of my face, plus chills.
(We've been sicker in prior years with old fashioned influenza.)
I stayed in bed a day, slept, and water fasted for 36 hours. A slightly runny nose cleared up, and have had a productive cough on and off since. My energy levels and appetite have been up and down since.
The main indication cluing us was that I thought I briefly lost my sense of smell, and his loss of smell has been more prolonged. He had a reserve course of Ivermectin and he has been taking it. Other than my usual supplements, and maybe a little extra zinc and Vitamin D, I haven't taken anything.

Every single flu or cold ever has ALWAYS caused a loss of sense of smell because holy fuck, when your nose is stuffed up, you can't smell what a huge surprise. And since your sense of smell is an integral part in actually being able to TASTE food when you eat it, it has ALWAYS caused a loss in sense of taste. People like chicken noodle soup and tomato soup when they're sick because chicken noodle soup is INCREDIBLY salty and hits the taste buds, which don't rely on smell, and tomato soup, which is acidic and salty does the same on the tongue.
I just have to ask how old you are, because this bullshit about loss of smell/taste being unique to covid and not every single flu since the dawn of fucking MAN is gaslighting of the highest order.
