You'd be surprised how red rural California is. Probably some of the most redneck people I've ever met. You'd be smart to not assume every Californian is a soyboy.
My brother lives in San Clemente, he and his wife have lived in several places in Orange County over the years, he says his wife is a gypsy and likes to move a lot. But he's told me for years that the bulk of the county is a red haven in a blue state. I told him that I wouldn't be surprised to see that blue state turn red, or that it's actually been red for years and they've cheated.
