Well, I can't believe this 'detective' was with the Kenosha Police for 7 years before becoming a detective 3 years ago and didn't know what gunshot stippling is!
I knew what it was from my first pheasant hunt at 8 and have heard the word often over the years at the range.
But then, he was just plain stupid on many points an investigator should have been on top of.
"DEF: "Define stippling?" Det. " you're putting me on the spot here." DEF." Rosenbaum had stippling right"? Det. " correct." DEF: "on hand"? Det. " I need to see the autopsy to remember.""
He could just be stumbling through life. From his testimony.....he can't define something, then said the perp had it, and then couldn't say where.
My thoughts:
Maybe it is gunshot residue that only happens within a few feet in front of a fired gun. Thus, if a gunshot victim has stippling on their body, it would confirm they were standing very close to the person firing.
(Correct me guys, if I'm off base...)
Which, if true would confirm that the gunshot victim was approaching or had approached very close to Kyle, meaning Kyle didn't premeditate the shot and shoot from far away, but only shot as the perp was rushing him and nearly on top of him when the trigger was pulled.
The diameter of the stipple would confirm the distance specifically, I think.
"Stippling, also known as 'pointillism', is a type of drawing that involves creating shapes and images by making many small dots on a piece of paper. Similar to creating real-life 'pixels', stippling is an interesting, albeit time-consuming, form of drawing that can be practiced by children and adults alike. If you're looking for a new challenge ..."
His skin was full of dots from unburnt solids in the powder....
What does it mean when you have a stippling gunshot wound?
Stippling Gunshot. The marks on the skin are called "tattooing" or "stippling.". The presence or absence of gunpowder on the clothing or skin indicates whether the gunshot was contact (loose or tight), close, intermediate, or distant. Tight contact — All gunpowder residue is on the edges or in the depths of a wound.
Could be a stiple pattern from perp firing his own gun or a close range shot from defendant.Either way a number one clue in any gun related death.A cornerstone of a case that's been in his face how long. Not something a detective would forget.
Exactly.. It seemed alot of the witnesses on the State side just happened to forget very important things. Looks and sounds like a set up.. then out of nowhere more secret drone footage gets sent in LMAO
You'd think that if you went up on the witness stand you'd have memorized everything pertinent tot he investigation.
Ridiculous.

If he sold his soul, fuck him.....
For us who don’t know what stippling is, wtf is stippling?

Precisely
I only know it in reference to the texture on a pistol/rifle grip.
A bunch of small dots ?

Where? On his face ? Or his gun hand? We need some context
You asking me or you are being the Defense and asking the detective a question?
