When a credible witness testifies about crimes in open court, doesn't that invoke the duty of the judge sitting as a magistrate and the prosecutor to follow up?

But then he said that he carried his gun there in the back of his pants and was licensed to do so... the lawyer corrected him but only said he didn't have a concealed carry license. He lied under oath and misrepresented fact to the court.
