The problem that Trump always faced trying to operate in the swamp of DC was the pool of qualified people that he had to pull from in order to fill all the positions that came with being the head of the executive branch. He had to choose from a long list of current and former swamp creatures who had competing loyalties and were working at cross purposes. Then there is the problem with the imbedded SES. It was a huge task for any one president to have to navigate. It will also be the same problem if there is a second Trump term. When Trump said that he had no idea how wide and deep that swamp was, he was not joking. There was always only a small handful he could trust and they had to fight to protect Trump as well as themselves from the swamp. Much of Trump's term was spent diffusing the bombs and avoiding the traps instead of promoting his agenda. The swamp did not expect a first Trump term and there were many loose ends exposed that were leveraged. A second Trump term will not be so lucky. The swamp will have had time to install several kill switches for the possibility of an outsider ever getting close again. It is true that the only way to fix a system this big and so corrupt is to bring it down. Anything short of that will only be temporary and a Band-Aid at best. If we are going to have a government that actually works, we will have to build it from the bottom up.
Look at it this way - how many people have had their past exposed because Trump put them in the limelight? Too much of the world worships Doctor Death II, but we know some of the truth. He makes last century's mass murderers look like school bullies.
