Why would they tape it on in such a fashion? Do they not have label makers? Or permanent marker on 1 strip of tape? Seems a little odd to do that. Not to mention every bot on Twitter is also saying high energy lipid protein. Seems like a convenient excuse.
Yes, it is more convenient to use tape, as tape isn't as easily removed and is much easier to clean. Paper also sheds particulates like crazy, and when you're dealing with delicate equipment designed to detect volumes of nanoliters, paper is the last thing you're supposed to have in a safety hood.
