🗣️ DISCUSSION 💬
You've been watching too much Star Trek. Or spending too much time with the Communist Manifesto. Money is a critically important element in the division of labor and thus in civilization itself.
Money is:
A store of value allowing people and groups to save for the future.
A medium of exchange which allows for modern civilization. Try buying that new house (or car, or anything) by bartering your eggs or accounting skills.
An information tool -- prices rise or fall in response to a mismatch between production and demand, both informing and incentivizing producers to adjust their output accordingly. Without this, you have the old Soviet Union or any other Communist country where shortages are the norm. Central planning of the economy just doesn't work.
Star Trek fan, yes. But thinking more along the lines of an alternative means of money. The love for it is the root of evil. It needs to be returned to a tool status, and no one should be living on the streets.
Precious metals and no fiat or fractional reserve banking does the job; America used to have a much larger group of non-government safety-net and charitable groups (churches, benevolent societies, professional organizations, etc) that helped people in need WITHOUT creating long-term dependency. It wasn't perfect and today, with better communications and other advantages, such a network could/would do much better. Putting the government (ANY government) in charge of this would be a huge mistake; the multiple toxic effects of LBJ's Great Society (millions of kids raised without their Dads, for example -- welfare rules) for example.
I love the idea that those in need should be offered a helping hand, but removing money and the incentive money provides for doing the hard work of creating and maintaining a society simply doesn't work. Fiat money is a disaster, but money of some sort is required. I don't know any way to "return money to tool status" than to get government and central banking out of the picture entirely.
Seriously, tithing was enough for the churches for 1900 years…. Then income tax comes along and its a 40% tax and more poverty than ever
The Love of Money is called GREED....
Being Selfish is a good thing, whereas being Greedy is not....
Selfish People want what they have, and will Earn their way....
Greedy People want what Other People have, and will do anything to get Other Peoples things.....
Money Exposes the Greedy, many will commit Crimes to get it.....
There's also another thing the love for money does, arrogance and pride: "Look at that poor loser, i am so much better"
Honestly anon, i don't expect this issue to be resolved until the root of evil is dug up and burnt for good.
Now there's a really good question, How to remove Greed from Society....
I don't believe there is an actual way, but maybe some day in the distant future, like a couple thousand years, we might figure it out....
He means we will be freed from the tyranny of central banks
That value needs to be regulated by law to prevent the imbalencing we have now. Certain careers need to be restricted to a structured pay scale similar to the military. I'm not saying after 40 years of ball play you can't have a big ass mansion, super yacht or anything, but for one, team loyalty needs to come back and two you can't just be traded around like a cheap whore.
Military all deserve substantial raises.
Industrial jobs should make way more than they do now.
And a bare minimum can be set for those who are content with where they get in life and see no reason to labor hard for things they don't need or want.
Oh and all jobs support one household consisting of at a minimum two adults and three dependents. This both parents working 40+ hours a week and struggling to put food on the table while their kids are raised by the state is a disgusting scam that must end.
