I live in NB, I called my local Sobeys, Superstore and Costco yesterday morning : asked for the managers.
Sobeys said they are not doing it. Superstore and Costco also said no, and both of these managers made it clear they believe not allowing Canadians access to food is illegal.
Superstore manager said he'll never implement it, no matter what the gov't says : he was quite on board with our way of thinking. Was a little relieved to hear, first hand, from the people that will make this decision, are not going to.
I'm sorry I missed your post. Just came across this and wanted to share what the government was trying to implement. I'm so glad you were on it and have called around and I'm even happier with the responses you received. I'm glad these stores understand that its not only illegal but it's inhumane to implement such restrictions. Thanks for sharing this today
Seems like BLM provided a road map, summer 2020, for dealing with stores you don't agree with.
Also seems like that response would actually be justified this time.....
In west coast Canada they've tried vax pass for restaurants but everyone hates it. Saw one owner try to play ball and put out the signs saying vax pass only and after a week of being virtually empty the signs disappeared and the restaurants was full again.
Restaurants have notoriously thin profit margins, any still left after 2 years of lockdown are on life support. I can't honestly blame any small business owner for doing anything they think will help save their life's work, despite how misguided I think they steps they've taken may be.
I meant others in other provinces across Canada that have not yet implemented these rules could boycot the stores that were refusing the unvaccinated in New Brunswick
Posted on this last night.

Hope they go broke - boycott and protest.

Some will have to learn the hard way.
You should be doing more than boycotting everyone slam your MPs phone line all day every day. That is totally illegal.
How can we boycott them? We're already not allowed in!

Oh yeah...
I was really just trying to make a joke. But you're right.
Just all shoe up and get you food. They can ring you up or you can just leave with it.
That's a great way of approaching it!! Their choice right?
Canadians are too polite. They’d apologize for their death not being convenient enough.
