One thing I heard from the legal commenter - Factors will be brought forward as to why Jussie made this kind of decision when sentencing is determined. So, the show is not over.
If jurors convict Smollett, his lack of criminal history and the fact that no one was seriously hurt make actual time behind bars unlikely. It’s more likely that a judge would sentence him to probation and perhaps order him to perform community service.
I don't expect him to do much time, if any either.
The people imprisoned for attending January 6th are still behind bars. There was no one seriously hurt (by them) and most of them lack a criminal history... so why are they incarcerated and no time for Jussie?
