You are correct. That's why I never understood people saying "I'm going to release information next week that ABC is a corrupt politician". Then that weekend the whistleblower is dead by an accident or suicide. If you have information to release, just do it. Forget advertising it to the world beforehand.

He also signed executive order 10111 (IIRC) that allowed the federal government via the treasury to issue currency concurrently with the privately owned federal reserve - I am of the opinion this was the major contributing factor to his assassination
