The bible lost me at "Fear your slave master in the same way that you fear God" and God turning people into salt and all that. But all the Jesus parts are cool.
Which part, the slave master part or the chick who got turned into salt for looking back at the city that was destroyed?
I completely believe in God, but I think the religions and most of what's in the books of each one are mostly trash. Like, I dont believe God is as much of a petulant asshole as the bible would have us believe. And I dont think people go to hell for things largely out of their control (like choosing the "wrong" religion or being atheist while being a good person all their life, being gay whether it's because they were born that way or touched on as a child, etc.).

You need to read 1 Pet 2:13-25 for the full context to understand respecting authority from the lowest to God. Also that is not a great translation.
