Many here will know about vitamin D already, but some may not yet have grasped the significance of this vitamin in creating health – I was definitely late to the party.
This is my understanding of the latest research:
If you live in northern climes, or if you spend a lot of time indoors, you are almost certainly well below the level of vitamin d that is required for long-term health – including protection against cancers, virus and immune disease. To give you an idea, you need to be getting sun at the level of an Australian lifeguard or a fisherman in the tropics to have sufficient levels, and that probably isn’t you…
What you can do:
For 4 to 6 weeks, take 10,000 IU D3 per day (along with vitamin K2) After 4 to 6 weeks, you should be able to drop down to 4000 IU per day, and should then continue to supplement at this level all year round. You can do home blood tests to get an indication of your levels, but this tests for 25-D, which, whilst important, seems not to be the important factor in healthy tissue development, which is key for long-term health.
We are evolved to have VERY high levels of vitamin D coming into our system every day, which makes sense if you think of the theory of migration postulating we all came out of Africa, and presumably rapidly lightened our skin to try and improve the level of Vitamin D getting through. If you are dark skinned in a northern climate, 4000 IU might not be enough, but I don’t have the understanding to comment on that specifically.
Anyway, the takeaway is, Vitamin D is not just another supplement. It is the key to priming your body to fight disease of all sorts and your body needs long-term high levels to be laying down healthy tissue. This is in addition to all the other good things that we are aware of, such as zinc, quercetin etc etc.
We have an amazing opportunity here folks, in the middle of all the strife. All this globally focused attention on the immune system means we are potentially on the verge of a huge leap forward in understanding health. The folks here have been instrumental in my own developing understanding so thanks to all the digital soldiers out there who are helping to break through the stranglehold of big pharma.
For those wise souls who do their own research before following the advice of a random bod on the internet, here are some of the links that led me to wanting to promote this:

I bet crisscrossing trails in the sky that spread out and then turn a bright day into a drab one could also effect our vitamin D levels. Just a thought.
“We came out of Africa” 😂🤣 remove this retard from posting ever again. Evolutionist bahahahah
Oi! Who you calling a retard?
Interested to know what your explanation is for difference in vitamin D absorption for light and dark coloured skin?
Oi? So you’re a 👃? That explains everything
What does that symbol mean?
eh i would ignore. as an engineer in medical, skeptical researcher i came to the same conclusion about skin color before i had heard anyone else explanations for it.
There's good evidence to suggest that the most recent civilisation began towards the equator.
😂🤣 another retard. Go regurgitate your anti God, 👃 propaganda elsewhere
I fear our friend AmericanLionXVII is engaged in something other than information sharing and may not be worth the time...
Research rhe VA. Almost 100 percent of veterans need supplemental vitamin D.
Good information. Not sure if you found Thomas Delauer on YouTube yet but he has tons of videos on vitamin D.
will check him out :) Thanks for the hint.
Thomas Delauer is an amazing resource. Ive been watching him for a couple years. So much good info.
For three years I've been taking D3 (10,000 iu), K2 (200 µg), magnesium citrate (300 mg effective) and other helpful shit. Thank goodness I was taking it when I got the WuFlu in Jan 2020!
BTW I began taking D3 to combat psoriasis and magnesium against migraine, muscle cramps and nighttime "restless legs". It works. K2 works with D3 to transfer calcium from blood to bones. Magnesium assists D3 in ways that I don't understand.
Don't drag stuff like this into your otherwise well conceived posts.
Hey, I'm making no claims, but it's definitely relevant to the post that dark and light skin process vitamin D differently, there definitely IS a theory postulating that humans migrated out of Africa (don't know if it's true or not and I was careful not to claim that it was) and I for one don't dismiss anything just because it causes me some discomfort. You don't find the truth if you've already made up your mind that certain things can't be true - hence the scientific world unnecessarily hobbling itself with the pre-supposition that miracles can't happen and Jesus isn't real...
but it's definitely relevant to the post that dark and light skin process vitamin D differently
Indeed, there is a significant difference. And totally justified to inquiry. But that has nothing to do with out of Africa. All I recommend is to leave it, as it is not pertinent to the topic at hand.
In terms of discomfort, there is none, except for the sensation of spotting another WOKE crowd mantra. Certain things can be relegated to the rarity cabinet of bullshit. I mean you won't take the same position of agnosticism when it comes to viruses causing climate change or vice versa, would you?
well alright, I'll agree that the out of africa thing might distract, but it sounds like you've got a much stronger stance than I do against it, and I'll confess to being curious about what you know that I don't.... :)
Went to have blood work done and the vitamin D test was included. The lab wanted $200.00 to have the test and that's with insurance.
What a scam.
That is really expensive! What's the deal with the home-tests? They are pretty cheap, so do they work?
The sun isnt providing enough vitamin D at present to meet our needs. Our food used to be a huge supplementation for vitamin D also. But since out food is like 75% processed all the nutrient is lost, and most people "hate veggies" So they arent receiving hardly any vitamin D....especially in places like New England where its shitty 70% of the year. Also vitamin D olays a HUGE part in hormone processing, and producing. Also a huge part in fat loss, and the upregulations of that. Vitamin D is literally the most important supplement we can take :D
Whilst I would never advocate against going outside, it's actually impossible to get sufficient vitamin D for many people purely by this mechanism alone - hence the point above about an Australian life-guard :) As the various videos make clear, even in a country such as Israel, with a fit doctor who swam outside for a long period every day, he was still Vitamin D deficient - not to the point of rickets, but to the point of sub-optimal immune function. The point I suppose I am trying to draw attention to is that your assumption (which was also my own until very recently) has been shown to be inconsistent with research.
This is actually why I was drawing attention to it, because from what I have been able to understand, it really could make a significant difference to how disease affects our societies - particularly those in northern latitudes - to shift our understanding of the extent to which our bodies rely on Vitamin D for proper function.
We need to have very high vitamin D (compared to common baseline levels) circulating in our blood all year round for proper function - in particular of the immune system, but many many cells have Vitamin D receptors.
I think this could be as significant a shift as the leap forward that came with improved sanitation.
The elderly have trouble absorbing Vitamin D, and so need higher supplementation levels to get the same effect as younger people. Vitamin K2 is also important when using high does vitamin D.
I believe in supplements, especially Vitamin D. Have taken it most of my life and think it contributes to my rarely getting sick.
I didn't know it was in Cod Liver Oil. Guess my old Father In law taking it all his life was wiser than we knew :)
Thank you for putting this together!
God designed humankind to live outdoors and naked, THAT is why we need sun exposure. It doesn’t matter how much melanin you have (mine actually adapts to the summer sun and gets darker hence making me less prone to sunburn) you need to be outside for some period of time each day for your overall well-being.
When I offer my wife vitamin D, she usually rolls her eyes and says " make it quick"
This decade-long push for ever-increasing quantities of vitamin D supplementation is starting to resemble vaccine propaganda. It apparently cures all ills known to man if you just take 50% more than last year. No, we don't die or suffer negative health consequences unless we keep popping pills every day. It's especially ridiculous for Americans who mostly live in sunny climates at latitudes comparable to northern Africa and southern Europe.
This is insane. Vitamin D increases calcium uptake and in addition to causing kidney stones, calcium is a stimulant. I got shaky hands, sleeping problems and heart palpitations at 5000 IU per day and I live at 60°N. Even 600 IU per day made me irritable and angry like any stimulant. It also didn't stop me from getting sick every other winter. I quit taking it entirely and feel fine despite months of near-constant darkness.
See my post. 10,000 iu D3 for the past 3 years. No obvious ill effects.
Thanks for your input :) The truth is out there somewhere...
That's an interesting experience to integerate into the mix. I wonder if you were taking just vitamin D3 or if you also took K2, and which brand you were using? What did you doctor say about your side-effects? Vitamin D is supposed to be extremely well tolerated? Also curious as to what your reasons were for supplementing with D3 (assuming it was D3 and not D2? ) and what you did instead?
