Hard to believe 56 years ago Charles Schulz was warning us about the over commercialization of Christmas. Times seemed much simpler then, I was lucky if I received a toy for Christmas, most of the sparse gifts were necessities like clothes.
Yet the Christmases were much more enjoyable. Family took time to gather together and celebrate our elders and family traditions.
I honestly hoped this year the supply chain issues would have created a situation where this Christmas was not about things. But instead people would have focused on the birth of our Savior and the blessings of family.
Yes. Unfortunately this world has become too materialistic. We have become slaves to Technology. The simpler times are but a memory now, filed away deep in our soul, longing to come back. The world now lives in darkness. We must make it a priority to receive the light again.
I mean, even Charles Dickens sort of hints at the materialist aspect of it in A Christmas Carol. It's been a thing since always.
True. I think Charles Schulz was also recognizing the effort to de-emphasize Christ as the focus of the Holiday.
Gotta get the newest TV though.
Got it
And this was broadcast during prime time on one of the only three channels available. Everyone got to hear this message whether a believer or not.
:45 "fear not" (drops blanket)
Yes, that IS what Christmas is all about. So don't worry about your dinners and parties and gifts, because the greatest gift is salvation. And Jesus gives us that gift.
And although peppermint Pattie was called “sir” you could watch an entire episode without any woke shit. I hope Disney doesn’t buy the rights and fuck it all up.
Couldn't find this on dvd this year
❤️
My favorite line in the show happens right before this clip starts.
Aww, poor Charlie.
