I don't have a recommendation for an alternative online source but may I make a suggestion?
In your post you mention a couple of local hardware stores that are only open when you are working. Would it be possible to have someone call them for you and inquire about any items you need? Many times, they are happy to pull / order items for you and have them shipped or delivered.
Just a thought before you give up on them.
Good luck to you.
Tip: if you’re trying to make real change in your life, don’t call it a “new year’s” resolution. Every year is only “new” for so long. Instead call it a “2022” resolution, so that by the time that name is no longer relevant your resolution will have been made into a habit.
Its hard to ditch Amazon completely, their marketplace is just so complete. Lots of specific goods I really cant find elsewhere.
I shifted everything I could to local, try to buy direct from manufacturer if I can (use Amazon as the catalog only), and my family shares a prime account now (so 1 less subscription...)
For tools/house stuff I usually order things online from Home Depot. Electronics I’ll order online from Best Buy or microcenter. I’ve never really bought car stuff online but I imagine places like auto zone etc. will ship orders, worth looking into. Occasionally there’s stuff you just can’t find elsewhere and you have to resort to eBay/Amazon.
I try to do most of my clothes shopping on line and with a minimum many places will absorb the shipping costs. I am older, so clothes last awhile. I can’t stand going into the stores anymore and I refuse to shop at Walmart because of a majority of their products are Chinese, they also have a lot of shoplifting and other dubious characters in the store. They make tons of money, but don’t treat their employees well. I hate to use Amazon for the same reason-they won’t pay a decent wage, don’t treat their employees fairly with breaks, time off and don’t pay health insurance (instead they keep their wages at such a point that employees qualify for Medicaid), despite all the money the company makes. The game playing by companies like Amazon needs to end.
I buy and sell on mercari. It depends on what you’re looking for..oddities and electronics, tools, old rare books are all good buys in my experience. Jewelry was a terrible experience. Just look at their ratings and check Etsy first (for jewelry at least).
If you join more groups on fb around you and widen your search radius + add shipped items, Usually some good buys pop up. I’ve sold and shipped stuff on there near and far and it’s always been a seamless experience (thus far at least). I agree about some pricing for sure-most people don’t know how to price or care to research how much their junk is worth.
We love iherb.com for vitamins, groceries, shampoo et al. They seem to have their own logistics dept on some orders. Guy in a truck shows up next day sometimes🤯
Luckyvitamin.com + Vitacost.com have good grocery sections.
“Patriots” still use the enemy Amazon? What’s next cutting out the NFL?
No kidding. I cancelled/closed all of my accounts last year when the censorship went through the roof.
Cancelled Paypal, Amazon, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram. And I don't miss any of them.
Cut out prime a year ago.
And guess what... packages still arrive in the same amount of time.
They don't actually have different shipping speeds!
I've learned that if it's 'prime eligable' it just means they keep it in their local warehouse.
The ONLY difference is you have to spent over $25 to get free shipping.
They tell you, every time, that the shipping will be roughly a week, yet, like clockwork, it ALWAYS arrives early, in 2-3 days.
WHAT A SCAM!!!!
Swanson for supplements - quality products, cost effective & great customer service.

Sign up for their email list, and when they run 35% off, stock up.
Or iherb
Home Depot. They have more than tools and home supplies. eBay is getting like Amazon and interestingly moving away from PayPal.
Walmart is evil and pedo
Alibaba is owned by Chinese

If its an ace you can order online and ship to your store also i think they get a cut of the sale which is good
Try Vitacost. Especially for non-perishable food items and vitamins/supplements.
Try this online store, it's for household items, and odds and ends, it's reminiscent of a virtual sam's club. https://www.boxed.com Edit: another one, not bulk: https://apollonshop.com/household-items/
i just buy records and stuff
I lost my power for 24 hours in the middle of Winter. Hot water becomes an appreciation. We need to get our sufferings in check.

Good point

As far as entertainment is concerned, you can't go wrong with Kodi
It makes 0 sense to have a streaming service. Buy/rent the DVD's then rip them into a computer. You'll save beaucoup.

Mercari, Facebook marketplace! I know Facebook sucks but it’s mostly local or regular people selling..

Dropped Amazon years ago. But oh no - is EBay cucked too? That’s disappointing.
