Does anyone else think that its odd how the MSM tried to turn American opinion against the French since 9/11. I remember articles about renaming french toast and french frys to freedom frees. I remember reading about wanting to return the Statue of Liberty. I almost feel like the narrative has been trying to sow hatred amongs people for a long time. Realistically, the French have been a good ally to us for 250 years.

Yeah, supposedly the French are supposed to lay down and give up easily, right?
Remember when they mass burned all of the Monsanto crops and chased them out of France? That was awesome.
I think the deep state screwed the french in ww2,by not sending fuel and ammo to the troops in time, and other things of that nature.
Whatever that thing is between The French and Americans has been there long before 9/11.
BTW- if you have traveled throughout North and South America, you would have heard that it’s not just USA that are Americans but all people that live in North and South America. Now they will obviously know that when someone says American, it means USA but they will remind you that they too are technically Americans. It was a very eye opening understanding for me
I think its odd how often they surrender. They deserve the stigma in my opinion.
....however they are stubborn as shit and we need "stubborn as shit" people on our side right now.
Please separate the people from the government. The French people formed a resistance during WW2 to do what their government would not. The French people continue to be skilled in resistance, unfortunately it is their own government they must resist now.
They have been seen to surrender to outsiders, but these are the same people who beheaded their own during the French Revolution on a grand scale AND turned it into a form of mass entertainment. It's possible that Macron is unwittingly courting his own end, and I don't mean getting voted out.
Do you know what stigma means?
Yeahno, not so fast.
The french reneged on our deal to hit saddam, it cost us lives. That is where Freedom Fries comes from.
In WWII the french fired on us as we landed in North Africa to liberate Africa from the NAZIs. They did a LOT of damage to us even after that, Patton famously said he'd rather have a German division in front of him than a french division beside him, and for good reasons. Prior to that right at the beginning of the war some of our people fled the Philippines and made their way to french-indochina, they asked the french there to help them escape to India or somewhere else. The french acted as if they would, they fed our people and acted as if they were friends. But they had already contacted the Japanese to come and take them all prisoner.
After the war Degaulle refused to let us base NATO forces in france, forced us to base in Britain which meant our F-105s didn't have the range to hit the expected Soviet routes of invasion. france refused to become full NATO partners, saying instead that if Russia invaded they would then turn out to help us.
french forces could not be used later in actions against terrorists because they had refused to train with us for so long it simply wasn't worth having them.
Going back to colonial America the french made war against us - the french and Indian wars for example. Ben Franklin spent years in france trying to get them to help us, they refused until it was pointedly in their favor to aid us.
No the french have never been Good Allies, at best they have been intransigent and a burden.
