I don’t know any kids that want to ride in the trunk of a car, but sitting in the back of a truck... hell yes! I did as a kid & a teenager, but that of course was long ago and pretty sure mostly frowned on now. When I was a kid, my uncle would put the truck tailgate down and my cousin & I would sit on it as my uncle drove down country dirt back roads, lol. As a teen, my friends dad let us sit in the back of the truck as he drove across town doing errands. Good times! As an adult I see how that could be dangerous, lol.
Uhh yeah!! That was my jam! We were supposed to duck low and not be seen 😂 and I always wanted to be in the trunk or the very back of my dads van behind the seats with blankets and pillows. It was like my own little fort.
I remember sitting on top of a homemade, wooden toolbox attached against the back cab window. The older kids would ride sitting atop the box and the younger kids would sit on the floor. There were a lot of kids in my family and only that one truck. We sat on top and held on for dear life to the wood overhang of the toolbox lid. That was the way we rode to church, school, everywhere we went. Seemed normal to us. The Lord was looking out for us. We all survived.
