I'm going to call Bullshit on Ibuprofen.
Ibuprofen is the generic name and can be manufactured by any company.
True. But drug manufacturing and actual patents/license shit is very nuanced. They probably own a lot of the actual manufacturing capacity anyways. A lot of industries are like this.
Beers of competing brands are often brewed in the same place. Generic brands of all sorts of consumables are often made in tje same facility. You should see how fucked dog food is. Most brands are owned by a few companies and those are all made in tje same facilities anyways.
That’s the coated one and it does cut down on stomach breakdown because ibuprofen is an acidic drug it will tear a hole in your stomach.
They stopped the daily aspirin because more old people die of stomach bleeds than most other things.
You have to take ibuprofen with food. My mother popped two in her mouth then had a code and she left them in her mouth for a few minutes and had an ulcer in her mouth.
Older ppl shouldn’t take this or aspirin very much and even young ppl should take on a full stomach
While i can accept that it is not a good thing to take ibuprofen on an empty stomach, saying it is an acidic drug is not the whole story. A main component of stomach gastric juices is hydrochloric acid, to the point where the pH is about 2. We live with that as a normal requirement of digestion.
Most APIs (active pharmaceutical ingredients. Ie ibuprofen) are made in China and India. Indian generic companies have full capability to synthesize and purify their own drugs, though it may not be the most efficient pathway.
"Competing brands"
“Freedom of choice”
As far as I can tell, Pfizer’s ibuprofen is called Advil. The patent doesn’t seem to be owned by Pfizer though I could have very well missed something
