There are many people here who are not as old as some of us and remember the history certainly of Alice Cooper.
Alice Cooper was the son of a minister. He ended up going off to Arizona to retire and make good business investments. In the later days of his tour he was married for a very long time maybe he still is I didn't check. But he took his son on the tour bus with him and helped him with his homework before he went on stage. I know someone who knew him.
Billion dollar babies was written about the excess of rock stars written when he first hit the big time. The album is a great one also the song election. When you read the lyrics to these songs you see what he is trying to do. The mockery of candidates wanting to be elected and be your guy the video is great!
But I leave you with Hello Hooray from the album. Just listen to the words! Alice Cooper was a very sound man who lived a very clean life and did crazy elaborate artistic shows. He was the precursor to Michael Jackson's thriller, with welcome to My nightmare. I saw the show twice absolutely incredible and the TV version mainstream media wanted to do. So don't mistake Alice for those eating babies he was trying to tell the story of excess.
This is for all of us, one of the great songs on the album Hello Hooray... Let the show begin... I've been ready.
I'd love to hear this at a Trump rally!
Hello! Hooray! Let the show begin I've been ready Hello! Hooray! Let the lights grow dim I've been ready Ready as this audience that's coming here to dream Loving every second, every moment, every scream I've been waiting so long to sing my song And I've been waiting so long for this thing to come Yeah, I've been thinkin' so long, I was the only one Roll out! Roll out with your American dream and its recruits I've been ready Roll out! Roll out with your circus freaks and hula hoops I've been ready Ready as this audience that's coming here to dream Loving every second, every moment, every scream I've been waiting so long to sing my song And I've been waiting so long for this thing to come Oh, I've been thinking so long, I was the only one And I can stand here strong and thin And I can laugh when this thing begins God, I feel so strong, I feel so strong I'm so strong, I feel so strong I feel so strong, so strong God, I feel so strong, I am so strong So strong, I feel so strong, I feel so strong I feel so strong, I feel so strong, I feel so strong Yes I'm strong, feel so strong, feel so strong
I saw him do tv interview many years back and he talked about being a Christian and how he and his band miraculously survived a crash which left their bus obliterated. Bystanders thought they were dead, but they all got up and were fine. Also mentioned how he was one of a few whose manager was not a crook but made wise investments.
Also said he went for the Gothic weirdness because musically the band was inferior and needed a gimmick.
He grew up in Phoenix. Still there. We used to see him at PV Mall (r.i.p.) all the time. He almost drank himself to death before giving it up. Super Duper nice guy. If you ever happen to see him in public say hey, he will shock you with his graciousness and intelligence. If you want a laugh. Paradise Valley Police uses photo radar. There is a picture of Alice Cooper and Glen Cambel (r.i.p.) caught on photo radar blown up on the wall, They look like a couple of kids that got caught in the cookie jar.
I have always loved Alice Coopers music and although that would be a bias I have to say I’ve never got a dark vibe from him, his Schtick was theatrics and tongue in cheek. From what I’ve read of him he met his wife years ago and they’ve been married for decades and after his problems with drink and drugs (maybe he saw too much that he was trying to blot out?) he’s pretty low key when not on tour.
Unlike Marilyn Manson who had a very dark vibe whenever I saw him live and came across as a sick fecker
So is the Pope. I have no reason to believe he is evil, but that album cover is suspicious.
It’s ok to question things-
No worries, I like Slayer and if you seen their albums covers you might think they eat babies, although the singer is supposedly Catholic.
It must be tough being the smartest person in the room all the time. I will never question anything ever again and seek your guidance to make all future judgments. Just kidding.
I unfortunately have been cursed with an open mind and question things from time to time knowing some things we think are 100% fact might not be true. I wish I could shake this skepticism, but it’s ingrained pretty deep.
Have a good day, keep up the good fight friend. WWG1WGA
I would say that with the enemy sinking at the polls and on the fucking run isn't exactly the time to waste effort in a fucking band. But distract yourself as you wish just don't bother wasting the rest of our time.
I agree- but I was not the OP, I just threw my 2 cents in, seems your problem is with them.
I’ll think of you next time I was to weigh in on someone else’s post, I didn’t know you were the spokesperson for the board.
He was able to make sound investments and not have to do anything their way. In he could never be controlled. Instead of running out of money and needing more through music he had a good manager who helped him make sound investments.
Could be- I always took it more as a traditional physical (bullets/landmines) type of a war- but songs have metaphors
And some of the words could relate.
I always seen the devil shit as dungeons and dragons kinda of shock stuff, but the music is brutal. God bless Jeff.
There's a great video on YouTube with Alice Cooper talking about his friendship with Glen Campbell. Their kids grew up together and the two of them played golf a couple times a week. He sounds like a good dude it would be fun to hang out with
I was at that show when Alice Cooper was doing his encore, "Schools Out" and some idiot released a canister of tear gas. What a (Welcome To My) Nightmare! Most of us believed that it was a police officer that did it, since it was police grade teargas, but we had no proof of that.
I was sitting in the section where the canister was released and well it was 1978 so not many in the audience were um, sober. One of my friends was so out of it we had to literally drag him out. A lot of kids my age carried Visine so as to try to clear up our eyes before we went into our parents home. The Visine came in very handy that night!
Here's a short ~2 minute video about the show for anyone who's interested or perhaps for any others who were there, for nostalgia's sake.
It was actually released in the void underneath the bleachers/seats. The police used to always patrol under those and that also fueled our suspicion that it was a police officer that released the tear gas.

He was on the muppet show...I remember watching it ...
I know I remember watching it 😁 and also remember Elton john on it as well on a different show
Ok- let’s give him the benefit of doubt. I’d rather have more on our side anyway to help reach the masses.
He doesn't need the "benefit of doubt". He's authentically Christian.
So is the Pope. I have no reason to believe he is evil, but that album cover is suspicious. It’s ok to question things- No worries, I like Slayer and if you seen their albums covers you might think they eat babies, although the singer is supposedly Catholic.
Stupidity is abounding here lately.

No harm no foul

Slayer song “Mandatory Suicide” is about the vax change my mind

He's always been noted around here as a helpful, decent guy, not the stage persona.

He is also a very, very good golfer!!!
He should golf with Trump!! With speakers blaring hello hooray let the show begin!
PS Never forget the ballad of Dwight Fry!
