What is a warrant? I called my broker yesterday he said that "its just a warrant, a shadow of DWAC" Since I know zip about it I accepted it. Can you share what you know? Thank you.
To put it blunt the warrant gives you the right to purchase a DWAC share for 11.50. This can be exercised 30 days after the merge into TMTG. If you bought 200 warrants for 30 dollars today($6000) you will still have to exercise them for 11.50. 11.50x200 ($2300) is what you would want to put to the side until you can buy your DWAC shares
Thank you Robyna7. It was informative. However I am just not getting it completely. Would you be willing to explain like I'm five?
It's the "you will still have exercise them for $11.50, etc" that is new information and can't seem to understand it fully.
Thank you again.
I have purchased 40K of DWAC stock at $48 (if this info may be valuable to assisting me in understand).
I'll try. I am not exactly a pro trader or anything but I also had same questions as you and I learned it for DWAC =)
There are three different shares you can look at in this SPAC. DWAC, DWACW, and DWACU. You can purchase them all like regular shares and sell them for gains or losses. But after the merger there will only be TMTG.
DWAC is good for a full TMTG share.
DWACU is good for .5 of a TMTG share and .5 of a warrant.
DWACW is good for 1 warrant.
A warrant isn't a share. Again, you buy and sell it like a share until the merger happens.
A warrant needs to be purchased after the merger for $11.50 (it can be different for other SPACs). You do this buy calling your broker and telling them you want to exercise them (just means you're ready to buy your warrants for your TMTG shares). From what I understand for this SPAC is that you can exercise them 30 days after the merger and I think you wan to do it by September. I'd watch a few youtube videos on SPACs just to understand warrants better. But it's pretty simple once you get the gist of it.
So let's say you bought one warrant for 30 dollars. You will need to pay an additional 11.50 to get the TMTG share. Even if the TMTG share is 1000 a share it will cost you 11.50 to get it!
Wow. Thank you!
How to purchase a warrant?
You buy DWACW instead
