The F-35 "mishap" brings back some very dark, very bad memories for me. Sounds like one of the carrier's arresting wires snapped when the plane tried to land. That's really the ONLY time you'll see an "in-flight" mishap like this that injures the carrier's deck crew.

The only time I saw this happen was on USS Nimitz during our 95-96 WestPac. A F-14(C) came in on final, hit the 3 wire, bit it snapped, pulled the "knuckle" out of the deck, slammed into an aircraft that myself and an air frames tech was working on, killing him, and injuring 2 others. The pieces of Trap 3 went flying across the deck, hitting two other Sailors, destroying one Sailors leg and hitting the third in the chest, breaking almost all of his ribs. The Chief was a good friend of mine. He left behind a wife, two kids, and an unborn baby. It was probably the hardest day of my life, that day. I still have nightmares from it. There's more to the story, but I'm tearing up now just trying to write this, so I'll leave it at that.

Someone on Vinson fucked up, and fucked up big time. Hopefully, the injured will be ok. And if someone did fuck up, I hope they're held accountable. No one was held accountable on Nimitz when my buddy died. In fact, the skipper, who's fault it was (in my opinion, because he purposely disregarded the wires' inspection deadlines and forced us to fly on a scheduled "no fly day," all to break the 6 mth deployment record for most flight hrs in a deployment and so he could get another Navy Meritorious Service Commendation Medal), was promoted to Rear Admiral (Lower Half) and later went on to become the C.O. for Naval Technical Training Command.

Someone needs to be held accountable. These accidents just don't happen when the inspection schedule is maintained.

The Holocaust in Our hospitals-I am so sorry for your loss. It is a horror. Hospitals are negating all family oversight and advocacy for the almighty dollar. This is what is making me wonder if the hospitals are giving the doctors “incentive payments.” Mercy Hospital showed no mercy to your father or your family. I know it won’t bring him back, but I would sue the paramedics and the hospital. He was most likely in a state of hypoxia which makes people do irrational things, like remove IV’s, oxygen, become combative,etc. How dare these hospitals deny immediately family being with their loved ones in their final minutes or hours. Serious legislation, which can not be whisked away by government on a whim, needs to be enacted by EVERY STATE.
