Not really, COVID-19 has always been the disease and SARS-CoV-2 has always been the virus. But since there are four other human coronaviruses that circulate freely and cause colds, SARS-CoV-2 should IMHO be considered one of them. This so-called pandemic should just be called the "common covid".
