The bridge that just collapsed in the city of Pittsburgh was set to be restored in 2016. Instead of replacing the completely rusted out supports, they used cables and diverted the money to bike lanes, green energy programs and lanes for self driving cars.

Especially in a city where you can only bike maybe 2-3 months total per year.
Like Phoenix, where the city council has wasted money on painting bike lanes for years, also put out a lot of ugly green bikes for people to borrow.
There's a road in Phoenix that runs between a golf course and a neighborhood traffic absolutely sucks during rush hour because the route takes you to multiple businesses only accessible by this route. Traffic is made even worse by cyclists hogging up the lane.
The city spent three months "fixing" the road. The solution? Paint "bike lane" in big green boxes every 50 feet along the route and put up signs saying cyclists have the right of way.
Instead of solving the problem they just spent money to make it worse.
Classic city management.
Right, like say Seattle for example. Rains probably 335 days per year. Only escaped communistville for freedom in Missouri a year and a half ago. Would never live in any big city though if my life depended on it.
You can barely bike in much of Pittsburgh to begin with because of all the hills. It’d be suicide to go down and impossible to go up. My husband’s Jeep even struggled when we visited last summer.
Like Tacoma, WA
